Cruising on Navasana: 2022 to TBD
We left the Nautitech factory in May 2022, sailed along the Atlantic coast, through Gibraltar (dodging the Orcas!) and then on to the Balearics. We explored Ibiza, Formentera, Mallorca and Menorca before crossing over to Sardinia in July. We loved North Sardinia and spent many weeks sailing with family and friends before making our way back to Formentera. We then made our way down to the Canary islands to prepare for the ARC. On Nov 20 we left to cross the Atlantic, arriving in St Lucia. We then cruised the Caribbean before sailing to Bonaire and then the magical San Blas Islands. We then transited the Panama Canal, crossed the Pacific Ocean and spent the 2023 season, sailing french polynesia, cook islands and tonga before sailing to New Zealand for the cyclone season. In May 2024 we sailed to Fiji, where we are are now cruising for the next few months!
Half Circumnavigation on Sudden Stops Necessary: San Francisco to Sydney 2010 to 2012
From Oct 2010 to Feb 2012 I took a sabbatical from work and sailed from San Francisco to Australia on my sailboat Sudden Stops Necessary visiting some pretty incredible places on the way.
The first part of the journey was getting to Mexico and then crossing the pacific. The exact route with all the daily position reports can be found on this google map. Some of the comments on the position reports are pretty funny to look back on now.
I have documented most of the trip in the blog posts below. The highlights were definitely the Tuamotus Atolls, Haa’pai group in Tonga and Suwarrow Atoll!
