How to get to Pink Beach in Rangiroa
The pink beach anchorage in the eastern most side of Rangiroa is one of the most beautiful anchorages we have been to in tuamotus. We were just there and we were the only boat for a few days. We saw a few boats turn away because it can be tricky to approach in wind and so sharing sailing directions to help others explore this magical place. We saw turtles, eagle rays, string rays and baby sharks in the shallow pink sand waters.
You can anchor in 4-6 meters in turquoise with hardly any bommies. No floats required. The anchorage is completely flat in east winds from all directions, much more comfortable than the village. We came in 20 knot east winds in sunny conditions with occasional squalls and would recommend using satellite charts in addition to a lookout. ARCGIS satellite charts were the best especially if you can overlay your GPS position.
We first sailed to a waypoint around 15*16.309S 147*19.045 and then followed the above track in yellow (where is gets shallow) which leads to turquoise water where you can anchor at next to the shallow pink sand and beach.
You can find our track GPX file below which you can upload into your plotter or OpenCPN.

You can download the ARCGIS satellite files from here, which you can install in OPENCPN on your laptop and use it to navigate.

You can connect OPENCPN to your chartplotter NMEA feed to get the most accurate GPS position. With B&G you can just connect to the chartplotter wifi network.
Good luck and hope you enjoy this magical place. Obviously use the above at your own risk 🙂
