Day 12: Half way to the Marquesas!
From where we are at 08N126W:
La Cruz Mexico is : 1435 nautical miles
Nuku Hiva, Marquesas is: 1311 nautical miles
We crossed the half way mark (as the crow flies), with around 1300 miles to go to the Marquesas. Unfortunately we are not getting there too quick, we are stuck in 6-8 knots of winds. Had to put on the engine last night for the first time since we left mexico as it dropped to nearly zero.
We had the asymmetric spinnaker up for a few hours which gave us a nice push at 6 knots, but the wind dropped below 6 knots making it difficult to even fly the kite.. The constant slatting of the main as the swell moves the boat is driving me crazy!! 🙂
Still, we have been enjoying the sunshine and calm seas, although it is hot hot hot.. The water temperature is 91.6F and air temperature in the shade is 90.5F!!
Our boat speed is so slow we can’t even catch fish.. 🙁
All is well and not enjoying the slatting with the roll

Engine, what?? 😉 Didn’t think you’d be using that swearword 😉 Good luck mate and hope the wind picks up for you. Maybe you should pass the time by having a shower? 😉
