Day 10: A gybe and a suntan!
We did Gybe The Jib (and the main) for the first time since we left Mexico, from starboard to port. It took a whole day to mentally prepare for it, such is our productivity these days 😉 The boat’s motion on this tack is totally different because of the swell direction. It’s now hitting us nearly dead on our stern, making the motion pretty uncomfortable. Our bodies will have to relearn the motion to anticipate the lurches.. ocean sailing is hard work 😉
We are now heading for a waypoint around 5N128W on a broad reach doing a course of about 200T. According to the GRIB forecasts the winds veer considerably as we get close to 5N, so we should get lifted to the mark. Also there is a westerly current running which should lift us a bit as well. The GRIB files also highlighted very light winds south of 5N and east of 125W, so hoping the late gybe will allow us to avoid the area.
The SUN is shining again!!! The upper level high pressure ridge disappeared at around 12N, we are back to blue skies, sunshine!! feels like we are sailing in the tropics again rather than the english channel..
Fish tally is now 8! Caught another mahi mahi, had another fish curry.. Fat and happy and getting dirtier..
All is well and enjoying the rock with the roll
